Learned all about cave art. Students were given examples of animals and symbols to draw on butcher paper, they then colored with oil pastels. The best part was telling them they had to crumble their work up. Finally they signed their work with their hand print and white paint. I then created this cool cave to display their work.
1st Grade Wayne Thiebaud primary color inspired Ice Cream cones. students traced their hands to create scoops of ice cream, then drew and cut out triangle for cone.
2nd Grade Wayne Thiebaud inspired Gum ball Machines.
1st grade used white paint to make stars and moon on black construction paper. They then cut out shapes and glued them on paper to create houses and buildings resembling their community. I absolutely love how these came out.
I gave each student a circle in which they had to draw a radial design then cut in fourths and paste on the corners of a square sheet of card stock. I then put them all together to make this beautiful mural piece for the front receptionist desk😍

For Black History month in February I teach my students about the African American artist Faith Ringgold and her style of art, which was Quilting. My favorite story to do is Tar Beach. I have my students imagine that they can fly, and ask them to draw themselves flying over their favorite place with their favorite person. they then write a story behind their picture around the frame. We then add lots of fabric to frame their story and place them altogether to design our very own class quilt. Here is a picture of my door. I like to always motivate them with a door design theme.

Welcome Back students to a new exciting year in art. Each week I will choose two students to be my featured Artist their work will be displayed under the Incredible Art Hulk bulletin. They loved the idea and are excited to see their work posted under the Hulk. I have added an incentive and told them that their picture will also be taken with the Hulk. They seemed to be very excited, let’s see how it goes!
