ROYGBIV π Painted Paper Plate Weaving

Students began by drawing 2 cat silhouettes. We discussed how to create Zentangles using line patterns and how to create illusion designs. After students designed both cats they painted warm and cool checkered backgrounds. Lastly they mounted their cats on yellow paper and onto their checkered backgrounds. π»ππ½

This lesson comes from one of my amazing art teacher friends Cassie Stephens~ you can find more of her projects on her blog cassiestephens.blogspot.com
This is one of my favorite lessons.
Students started with an eye study on how to draw realistic animal eyes. They used oil pastels for coloring. Students then began to paint on newspaper. Once dried students ripped and shredded the newspaper π° and glued onto their blank canvas.
Students then placed the eyes and nose over the newspaper and painted more in-depth details to create their cats and dogs. Multi step lesson with amazing results β€οΈπ¨π»πΆπ€©

Took students outside to collect leaves. We then analyzed the leaves looking closely at the lines, shape, form, and color. Students then chose a leaf to draw.
This is part 1 of our aboriginal leaf painting.
Perfect lesson for the holiday teaching students all about the element of art βValueβ and how to blend and shade using chalk and oil pastels.
Students learned about Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky. Students learned about abstract art and how to express feelings through color, shapes and lines while listening to music for inspiration.
Students created a Kandinsky inspired painting using all elements of art in one composition.
Last students used yarn adding actual texture and emphasis to lines.
Grade 4 learned how to draw an astronaut through a guided drawing tutorial from Art for Kids Hub YouTube channel. Students then developed skills in drawing and blending using chalk and oil pastels as they created an outer space background on construction paper. Once students finished their backgrounds we mounted their astronaut using card stock and mounting tape to give it a 3D effect. ππ©πΌβπβοΈπ«
