My first graders painted owls:

Lastly they were given a strip of brown construction paper to make a branch and glue under the feet.
Can you say ADORABLE!…I found this on Pinterest and had to do this project with my students so I must share because the Pinterest post did not have directions just a image. Have Fun!!
My second grade did collage owls:
Process:

My 2nd Graders learned how to draw different types of insects. They first traced a template of a jar. Then they drew their bugs inside the jar. I then had them trace their drawing with a black oil pastel/ black crayons will also work. Then they used watercolors to paint their bugs and their jar. Lastly they cut out their jars and counted the bugs inside.

My 4th Grade girls learned how to paint silhouettes. They first used red and yellow paint to blend the background sunset. They then painted camels and palm trees with black paint.
My 1st graders made deserts in a box. I found this idea on Pinterest and fell in love with it. Great for teaching foreground, middle ground, and background. Picture doesn’t do them justice.
Lastly my 3rd Grade boys used oil pastel for the background of their landscapes. Then ripped construction paper for foreground and middle ground layers. Lastly they drew camels on black paper and glued them onto their landscapes.
I absolutely Love how they all came together to create this dynamic display for the schools entrance.
2nd Grade
Learned all about cave art. Students were given examples of animals and symbols to draw on butcher paper, they then colored with oil pastels. The best part was telling them they had to crumble their work up. Finally they signed their work with their hand print and white paint. I then created this cool cave to display their work.

1st grade used white paint to make stars and moon on black construction paper. They then cut out shapes and glued them on paper to create houses and buildings resembling their community. I absolutely love how these came out.
My 4th graders really enjoyed this lesson. After tracing their hands and feet, they drew and colored themselves as astronauts. Then they painted the background black and used oil and chalk pastels for stars, planets, UFO’s, etc.
