“Create” Mural Display

Grade 4 students learned about Andy Warhol and his contributions to the Pop Art movement. Students learned why Warhol was inspired by Campbellβs soup and used it for his print making technique.
Students learned about form and how to draw using this element. Students began by designing their Campbellβs soup can. Some invented their own flavors and ingredients. They then created a 3 dimensional can using foil and label. Students were encouraged to focus on their design, letter placement and image to grab the attention of the consumer. Lastly students created ingredient labels and placed them on the back of their cans.
This project included both elements of art and principles of design.

Here is an animated Video I created with my Bitmoji to help my students learn about landscapes with a cool song to help them remember where and how to place objects in the Foreground, Middle ground, and Background. I also teach them a cool dance along with learning the song π΅ ππ½π¨β€οΈ

Grade 4 learned how to draw an astronaut through a guided drawing tutorial from Art for Kids Hub YouTube channel. Students then developed skills in drawing and blending using chalk and oil pastels as they created an outer space background on construction paper. Once students finished their backgrounds we mounted their astronaut using card stock and mounting tape to give it a 3D effect. ππ©πΌβπβοΈπ«

Students loved creating self portraits using snap chat filters. Move over Instagram we all know Snapchat has the best fun filters.
To make our selfies even more real we mounted them on a cell phone drawing.
This lesson is inspired by Cassie Stephens she has a tutorial on her blog as well as her YouTube channel. https://cassiestephens.blogspot.com

I allowed my students to chose their filter and animal. I love the finished productπ€³πΎβ£οΈπ¨ππΈπ²
My first grade did an amazing job drawing their cats and adding geometric shapes in the background.
They developed skills in flow drawing which is an art technique developed by artycrafykids.com to encourage children to understand shapes and create them in a freer way.
Students were encouraged to discover a natural flow, bringing mindfulness to the creative process.
Students enhanced their drawing by adding personality and geometric shapes in the background.
Students experimented with a mixture of mediums.

My Grade 3βs learning about the element of art βValueβ. After discussing the brush fires in Australia they did a guided drawing activity of a Koala. They developed skills in shading and blending using charcoal, oil pastels, and acrylic paints. Watercolors were used to paint the background. Leaves were drawn by observation, value was added using oil pastels then pasted as the last step. ππ¨β€οΈπ¦πΊ
