Grade 2 learned how to draw a polar bear through a guided drawing activity. They learned about the element of art “ Value” and experimented creating value with oil pastels. They also learned about foreground, middle ground, and background.

Fifth and Sixth Grade combined optical illusion Art with ROYGBIV and Whaalaahhh 😍👏🏽

Grade 4 IB PYP “All About Me” unit. This Art project was inspired by RJ Palacio’s book “Wonder”. Students created self-portraits inspired by the illustration of the book cover. They then used a variety of adjectives to describe them. We saw clips of the movie, talked about bullying and how being different should be celebrated and not looked down upon. Groundbreaking for a culture where individuality isn’t really the norm.

My Grade 3’s learning about the element of art “Value”. After discussing the brush fires in Australia they did a guided drawing activity of a Koala. They developed skills in shading and blending using charcoal, oil pastels, and acrylic paints. Watercolors were used to paint the background. Leaves were drawn by observation, value was added using oil pastels then pasted as the last step. 😍🐨❤️🇦🇺

This was an IB PYP Unit. My students took their time and learned so many elements and principles of art in this transdisciplinary unit. I’m obsessed 😍 Grade 4 & 5
