Grade 2 Students learn about emotions and how color can be used to express different emotions. In today’s world Emojis are used to communicate rather than words. Students really grasped the concept and drew different emojis and colors to express how they were feeling 😍🤓😷😜

SnapChat Filter Selfies
Students loved creating self portraits using snap chat filters. Move over Instagram we all know Snapchat has the best fun filters.
To make our selfies even more real we mounted them on a cell phone drawing.
This lesson is inspired by Cassie Stephens she has a tutorial on her blog as well as her YouTube channel. https://cassiestephens.blogspot.com

I allowed my students to chose their filter and animal. I love the finished product🤳🏾❣️🎨😍📸📲
Geometric Cats
My first grade did an amazing job drawing their cats and adding geometric shapes in the background.
They developed skills in flow drawing which is an art technique developed by artycrafykids.com to encourage children to understand shapes and create them in a freer way.
Students were encouraged to discover a natural flow, bringing mindfulness to the creative process.
Students enhanced their drawing by adding personality and geometric shapes in the background.
Students experimented with a mixture of mediums.
You can find more about this lesson including video tutorials at http://www.artycraftykids.com they have amazing art lessons to encourage students to express themselves creatively and artistically. ❤️🎨
Warm Cool Monsters
Grade 2 Learning about warm and cool colors.

Grade 5 Still Life
This unit incorporated a variety of elements and principles of art. The students began learning about Value and how to shade from dark to light and vice verse.
I then taught them about form and how using value can transform a fruit from appearing flat to round. I did this with an apple, showing them how to look for shadows and light.
Students then begin sketching a still life fruit bowl. Once they finished I incorporated pointillism. Students then learned about Seurat and his pointillism paintings. I demonstrated how to create value and shading using pointillism. We then added value with color on the fruit.
Students divided their background into geometric shapes using Zentangles to fill in each shape. This was an intense unit but I am so proud of my students, their progress and their finished pieces. 🎨❤️🍇🍎🍐🍊👏🏽😍🙌🏽
